Accreditation

Joliet Montessori School follows the Montessori model established by Maria Montessori. All guides hold diplomas granted by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) or the American Montessori Society (AMS). Our school is unique in the Chicagoland area in that we have accredidations from both AMI and AMS. Our Primary Program is fully  accredited by AMS, and our Elementary and Adolescent programs are fully recognized by AMI. Both accrediting bodies require rigorous adherence to Montessori methodology and principles.

Joliet Montessori School is a member of ISM, a guiding and advisory body for independent schools, which involves review and oversight of our governance, administration, finance, curriculum, and programming. The school is also registered with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and is a full member of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools (AIMS).

It follows that the child can only develop fully by means of experience on his environment. We call such experience “work”.
