News At Joliet Montessori
On November 21, with Thanksgiving right around the corner, students from the Upper Elementary Program delivered some extra holiday smiles with the help of Morning Star Mission, completing their week-long schoolwide collection effort of non-perishable food. Miss Ashley’s class delivered six large boxes of food for Morning Star Mission to distribute—enough to pack the back of a minivan and give many area families a Thanksgiving feast to remember.
Taking an active role in helping the community is an important part of Montessori education as the kids got to see the fruits of their work firsthand. One remarked that that she “was happy to see those in need actually lined up to receive the food” they delivered. Another said, “I’m grateful to be able to help others and make sure they get the food they need.”
Congratulations to Miss Ashley and her classroom of enthusiastic and generous young citizens! To learn more about the school’s calendar of events, visit the Calendar page.
