At Joliet Montessori School, the work of the children is preparation for life.   Each member of the JMS community is respected and appreciated and is responsible for promoting a peaceful spirit in the environment and in each child.  Our hope is that this partnership will provide grounds for mutual understanding and open communication so we can work together for the benefit of your child.

As a parent, you can expect Joliet Montessori School to:

  • honor the school’s mission and cultivate a mutually respectful relationship with all members of our community
  • maintain a prepared Montessori environment that meets the highest standards of excellence in faculty and materials
  • promote understanding of the Montessori philosophy through a program of parent education
  • communicate clearly in a concise and timely fashion
  • understand the challenges of parenting and support you in meeting those challenges
  • partner with our Home and School Association to provide opportunities for families to build relationships in the community

At Joliet Montessori School, parents are expected to:

  • honor the school’s mission and cultivate a mutually respectful relationship with all members of our community
  • educate themselves concerning the policies and procedures governing the operation of JMS
  • promote good communication by attending parent-teacher conferences twice per academic year, staying informed about school functions through reading all newsletters, news briefs and other communications and participating in all opinion surveys
  • understand the expectation is for children to complete their 3 year cycle, with the exception of the Adolescent program, where parents can choose to have their child graduate at the 8th grade equivalent for transition to a traditional high school as a freshman, or remain for the third year.
  • grow in understanding of the Montessori Method by attending mandatory parent education presentations: three (3) for families new to the JMS community and two (2) for returning families
  • observe your child’s Primary classroom at least once per year
  • provide the opportunity for purposeful activity at home that compliments the child’s experience at school and limit the use of television, video games and computer games
  • financially support the Joliet Montessori School Annual Fund

If the expectations of this Partnership Agreement are not met, parents may be asked to re-evaluate their commitment to a Montessori education for their child.  If space becomes limited, preference will be given to families who have demonstrated a commitment to the JMS mission and to this Partnership Agreement.

This partnership has been read, agreed to and will be honored for the term of my child’s enrollment at JMS.
